Five Things People Find Out Too Late!

1. Why the IRA withdrawal you take in January can decide how much of your Social Security gets taxed in April.

2. The two numbers set in 1983 & 1993 that decide your tax bill — and why no one has adjusted them since.

3. What claiming three years early really costs, and why the reduction follows you for life.

4. The claiming decision one spouse makes that the other lives on for years afterward.

5. Nearly every move that lowers the tax on your benefits has to be made before you file.

Ed Harris, AWMA®

Ed has spent more than twenty years in the financial industry. He founded Financial Educators Network, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, on a simple premise: most people don't make poor financial decisions because they're careless. They make them because nobody ever laid the choices out plainly.

Ed is the founder of Bison Wealth – Detroit and holds the Accredited Wealth Management Advisor (AWMA®) designation. His work centers on the decisions families face approaching and during retirement — the emotional side of those decisions as much as the arithmetic. He and his wife Melissa are raising five children in metro Detroit. Ed teaches every FEN class himself.
